Choosing a DJI Matrice is a business decision, not a hobby purchase. The aircraft you buy decides which jobs you can quote for, how long a crew stays in the field and how much you spend on batteries, payloads and cover for the next several years. Searches for the DJI Matrice and for commercial drones in Australia keep growing as utilities, councils, surveyors, emergency services and farms replace manual inspection with aircraft. This guide matches each Matrice in our range to the work it does best, lists the price of every bundle in Australian dollars, shows what to budget on top of the aircraft, and explains how to get a written quote for a fleet.
The DJI Matrice range at a glance
Four families cover most commercial work. The Matrice 4 series is the newest and lightest, built for mapping and fast inspection. The Matrice 30 series is the weather-resistant all-rounder. The Matrice 400 is the heavy-lift platform for crews who carry more than one payload. All of them carry cameras and a laser rangefinder, and the thermal versions add a radiometric thermal camera for night and heat work.

DJI Matrice 4 series: mapping and thermal in a 1.2 kg airframe
The Matrice 4 Enterprise at $7,395 is built around a 4/3 CMOS wide camera with a mechanical shutter, which matters for mapping because the shutter avoids the distortion that rolling-shutter cameras introduce on a fast pass. Two telephoto cameras and a laser rangefinder sit beside it, and the whole aircraft weighs about 1.2 kg and flies for up to 49 minutes. It is lighter and quicker to deploy than the Matrice 30 series, which makes it the natural choice for surveyors and for emergency teams who need to launch in minutes. If you want it with protection included, the Matrice 4E Plus Combo at $8,360 adds Care Enterprise coverage.
The thermal version, the Matrice 4 Thermal at $10,159, adds a 640×512 thermal camera with a sensitivity of 50 mK or better, plus a near-infrared auxiliary light for night work. It suits public safety, search and rescue and inspection crews who work day and night. The Matrice 4T Plus Combo at $11,248 adds Care Enterprise coverage and extra batteries.
DJI Matrice 30 series: the weather-resistant all-rounder
The Matrice 30 at $10,989 is the aircraft to choose when the weather will not cooperate. It carries an IP55 rating, operates from -20°C to 50°C and folds into a backpack case, with a 12 MP wide camera, a 48 MP zoom camera (5–16× optical) and a laser rangefinder that reaches 1,200 m. Flight time is up to 41 minutes with hot-swappable batteries, and it takes off at about 3.77 kg with batteries. The Matrice 30T at $14,917 adds a 640×512 radiometric thermal camera, which makes it a favourite for firefighting, police, power-line and solar inspection. Both are also sold as Worry-Free combos, covered below.
DJI Matrice 400: heavy-lift for crews with several payloads
The Matrice 400 Worry-Free Plus Combo at $18,550 is DJI's heavy-lift Matrice 400 platform with a Worry-Free Plus bundle and Care coverage. It carries multiple payloads, with dual and third gimbal connectors available, for demanding inspection and survey work. It suits specialist operators and public safety agencies who need more than one sensor on the same flight. If you plan to add a second or third gimbal, budget for the connectors: the dual gimbal connector is $390 and the third gimbal connector is $230.
Which DJI Matrice for which job?
- Mapping and surveying: the Matrice 4 Enterprise or 4E Plus Combo, for the mechanical-shutter wide camera.
- Search and rescue, police and fire at night: the Matrice 4 Thermal or Matrice 30T, for the thermal camera and light.
- Inspection in poor weather: the Matrice 30 or 30T, for IP55 and a wide temperature range.
- Multiple sensors on one aircraft: the Matrice 400, for its heavy-lift capacity and extra gimbal connectors.
- Heavy thermal payloads and long-range zoom: a Matrice 350 RTK with a Zenmuse H30T. Ask us about the aircraft and read our guide to thermal imaging cameras.
Worry-Free and Care Enterprise: what the bundles add
Enterprise aircraft are expensive to repair, so most commercial buyers choose a bundle with DJI Care Enterprise coverage. The Basic and Plus levels differ in how much they cover, and you should read DJI's terms before you buy. Here is how the bundles are priced.
| Bundle | Cover | Price (AUD) |
|---|---|---|
| Matrice 30 Worry-Free Basic Combo | Care Enterprise Basic | $10,989 |
| Matrice 30 Worry-Free Plus Combo | Care Enterprise Plus | $11,363 |
| Matrice 30T Worry-Free Basic Combo | Care Enterprise Basic | $14,917 |
| Matrice 30T Worry-Free Plus Combo | Care Enterprise Plus | $15,473 |
For the Matrice 30T, the step from Basic to Plus costs $556. For a crew that flies daily, that is a small price for the higher level of cover.
Budget for more than the aircraft
The aircraft price is only part of the cost. Commercial crews should plan for batteries, charging, extra payload hardware and training. These items are listed for the Matrice 4 series.
- DJI Matrice 4 Battery, $280: spare packs keep a crew flying through a shift.
- DJI Matrice 4 Series Charging Hub (200W), $140: charges batteries together.
- DJI Matrice 4 Obstacle Sensing Module, $2,380: added obstacle sensing for demanding sites.
- DJI Matrice 4 Series Carrying Case Strap, $80: easier transport.

Automate it: the DJI Dock 3
Once a crew has proven the value of a drone, the next step is often to stop sending a pilot to site. The DJI Dock 3 at $19,999 is an automated dock that launches, lands, charges and houses a compatible Matrice 4D series aircraft for remote operations through DJI FlightHub 2. If you need thermal for night security, the DJI Dock 3 Thermal Package at $34,278 includes a Matrice 4TD thermal aircraft, Care Enterprise Plus, a speaker and a spotlight.
